There has been limited attempts to explore paradigms of mentorship enacted by Black men, and in particular mentoring in the support and development of Black educators and professionals. Through an integrative review, personal conversations and analysis of secondary interviews and presentations the study utilizes a critical race theory (CRT) interpretive framework, culturally sensitive and humanizing approaches to explore the concept of culturally sensitive mentoring. Specifically, to develop a conceptual framework and model for mentoring while Black and male, grounded in a Black leadership epistemology, informed by the leadership, leadership philosophy, scholarship, and experience of Professor Edmund W. Gordon, Honorary President of AERA. The research builds theory and formulates a new and comprehensive definition of mentoring while Black and male.
