A Multiperspective Reflection of High School Science Students on Environmental Issues

Tue, April 26, 8:00 to 9:30am PDT (8:00 to 9:30am PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Floor: Upper Level, Room 8

Abstract

The environment in which human beings live has turned out to be unstable, inconsistent, and, consequently, extremely complex to manage. The environmental crisis is worsening. This is the result of lack of knowledge, negative attitudes and practices about land degradation and the lack of practical application of knowledge about environmental issues. A mixed-method research design was adopted for the study. Interview and document analysis were used as the main tools for data collection. Data were analysed using a thematic content analysis framework. The paper, therefore, argues for a more effective environmental education for all high school learners to promote cooperation between humans and their environment, and hence improving their environmental literacy for accelerating sustainability.
