Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century Through Teaching Materials: Perspectives From Europe

Abstract

The international-comparative study analyzes teaching materials from different European nations and the US in search for stereotypes, stigmatizations, and discrimination, which all constitutes hurdles for cultivating equitable education. The results of the study reveal
several discriminating aspects of teaching materials that exclude children because of their gender, their socioeconomic background or because they belong to ethnic or religious minorities.
