Early Lessons Learned From a Statewide Initiative to Build Dual Capacity for Family-School Partnerships

Abstract

This session will present research from a multi-method, multi-year, and multi-site case study project of strengthening family and school partnerships in Kentucky through the Kentucky Statewide Family Engagement Center. Using the Dual Capacity-Building Framework (DCBF) as an analytical anchor, presenters will share findings and implications from the early-mid implementation phase. The findings include the perspectives of teachers, families, school administrators, district staff, and community members on the successes, challenges, and policy implications that can sustain strong family-school partnerships. By analyzing interviews, observations, documents, and survey data, the papers in this session, together, will add to our knowledge of how schools, districts, and communities engage DCBF and what conditions are required for successful and sustainable implementation.
