Research in Informal Learning Environments During COVID-19

Abstract
In 2020 informal learning centers closed around the world due to the global pandemic. The closure of these environments impacted researchers’ ability to conduct learning research in these spaces. This structured poster session will share the challenges seven early career researchers faced as they adapted their research to the pandemic. The participants will share the challenges and solutions they encountered. Conducting research with different audiences and in different spaces, they will offer insight into how they collected data as a response to site closures. Additionally, four mentors from diverse research backgrounds will share encouragement and recommendations for future research to guide the participants as they progress through their career.
