Mon, April 25, 8:00 to 9:30am PDT (8:00 to 9:30am PDT), Division Virtual Rooms, Division E - Section 1: Counseling Virtual Paper Session Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

In order for all students to thrive in schools, school counselors and school principals need to have a collective focus to understand and meet the academic, social-emotional, and college and career readiness needs of their PK-12 students. Through efforts to close gaps in educational achievement, access, and attainment for students, collaboration between principals and school counselors is a critical component to creating social capital among school leaders, educators, students, families, and community members. Through leadership team development, intentional planning, implementation of comprehensive school counseling programs, and continuous professional learning opportunities, school counselors and principals together can foster student learning environments that are equitable and accessible for all students and stakeholders throughout the school and community.
