Supporting the Well-Being of School Community During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Perspectives From Different School Stakeholders

Mon, April 25, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, Floor: North Building, Lobby Level, Marriott Grand Ballroom 12

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

While an emerging body of literature has examined the negative consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to school systems, there is a lack of synergized discussion about how individual and system-level factors concurrently and interactively influence the wellbeing of school stakeholders across different school communities and demographic contexts. To address this research gap, we will present four studies focusing on different school stakeholders (i.e., principals, classroom teachers, immigrant families, and students) and methodology to understand the school community’s wellbeing and its contributing factors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The symposium will also explore the risk and resilience process and intervention strategies that could help alleviate the negative consequences caused by this unprecedented public and social crisis.
