Queer of Color Perspectives: Tracing Genealogies of Transformation, Criticality, and Care

Sat, April 23, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, Floor: North Tower, Ground Level, Pacific Ballroom 25

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This symposium aims to stage an intergenerational conversation about the history, possibilities and practices of Queer of Color Critique and Analysis in Education (QOCCAE). With an intent to illuminate under-recognized methods (i.e., auto/ethnography, performance), genealogies, and praxis developed in relationship to QOCCAE, our dialogue is organized around three key questions:
1. Theoretically, who raised you?
2. What rubs/tensions have you noticed between QOCCAE and more mainstream methods used in Educational Studies, broadly defined?
3. Where is it that you see QOCCAE going in the future based on where it has been in the past?
