Session Type: Symposium
Research publication and communication is vital in organizing knowledge contributions in a scientific field. However, science and technology studies have shown that this differs in different research fields (Whitley, 2000) and that such fields move in tandem with social and political changes (Nowotny, 2003). Given this, the purpose of this symposium is to analyse educational research publishing from an international and comparative perspective. We are not interested in performative measures. Instead we are mapping knowledge organization in order to analyze communication nets and nodes (Persson, 1994). Our cases are Germany, Italy, Sweden and the US. Our analyses intend to advance academic discourses on knowledge contributions and research cooperation in the field of education in its specificities.
