Session Type: Symposium
Inclusive education is a topic that is an integral part of teacher education globally particularly since the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN-CRPD). The examination of barriers created by society, schools, and teaching invites international comparisons, e.g., the type and way that barriers to social and academic participation are constructed; how can they be reduced. So far, university classes used mainly texts to introduce education in other countries. The digital developments in universities in the wake of the pandemic enables remote classes for students studying in different places. The symposium will discuss a cooperatively designed seminar on inclusive education and the experiences of pre-service teachers and teacher educators from Brazil, Germany, Japan, and Norway.
