The Armageddon Club: Educating for the Future of Humanity — Educating Toward Equitable Futures 2

Sat, April 23, 2:30 to 4:00pm PDT (2:30 to 4:00pm PDT), San Diego Convention Center, Floor: Upper Level, Room 11B

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

The Corona Crisis has overshadowed the global protest movements such as Greta Thunbergs´ School Strike for the Climate and Extinction rebellion. Both show the multiple crisis and possible collapse of our civilization (Besley & Peters 2019:1). Academic research shows the clear facts of an anthropocenic climate heating. This leads to reflecting on the challenges and needs for education in general and for organizational education, too. ´ As civilizational collapse is possible, we need to ask, whether the present global modern civilization be able to learn from the past civilization collapses? As education has to prepare generations to the future challenges, the symposium part II reflects on educational systems and strategies towards educating for the Future of Humanity.
