Chilean Students' Experiences of Higher Education in Disruptive Times

Abstract

In this symposium, we will present the results of research on factors influencing the contemporary experience of Chilean students. Presentation one will analyze the critical theme of female students in STEM subjects. Presentations two and three will focus on learning and teaching during the COVID19 crisis. Thus, presentation two will describe and discuss how the use of online resources has changed due to emergency remote teaching and how students perceive the online environment, while presentation three will focus on the teachers’ side, describing how they adapted to the online milieu. Finally, presentation four will present how universities deploy strategies to become research-oriented and how these impact students. The presentations will consider how Chile compares to other countries in these dimensions.
