This session will highlight an overview of findings from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine report “Opportunities for the National Assessment of Educational Progress in an Age of Artificial Intelligence and Pervasive Computation.” This report is one of three studies initiated by the Institute of Education Sciences to guide the future direction for the agency’s work. Members of the NASEM committee will discuss the charge and recommendations, followed by moderated discussion with assessment experts and perspectives from Peggy Carr, commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics, and Lesley Muldoon, Executive Director of the National Assessment Governing Board, perspectives on the report findings in guiding future plans for the NAEP.
