Loving in Schools: A Collaborative Struggle

That relationships are essential to teaching is something of an educational truism. Though the value of love is widely called for and even desired, it is very common for teachers to struggle feeling it and acting in a loving way. This paper 1) investigates how teachers can work through the struggle to act in loving ways through community 2) how the kinds of stories we tell about teachers’ struggle to love their students matter 3) how reading stories through each other can help us to intentionally re-story the stories we tell about teaching to better help teachers engage with love.
