Family Well Being During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Impact of COVID-19 Telework on Female Staff at Louisiana State University

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many workplaces and classrooms have, out of necessity, moved online. This paper seeks to study the relationship between domiciliary boundary and labor distribution conditions and feelings of satisfaction and stress for female staff members at LSU who moved to telework during Covid-19 and that live in households with a male partner and a child or children in their care. Based on the results it is evident that female staff members at LSU perceive that they spend significantly more time than their male spouses/partners on household chores and assisting their children with schoolwork. There appears to be an inequity in shared household and parenting duties that existed during Covid-19 telework.
