Abstract

Students exposed to trauma may need additional support to promote their success in higher education. However, colleges and universities generally have taken a reactive approach to providing this support instead of a systematic one that ensures that both college classroom and overall campus are trauma-informed. One population that may be more impacted by trauma is students with military affiliation. This study explores differences between military-affiliated and non-military-affiliated students in their needs for trauma-informed support. Results indicate that all students generally agree on classroom-level strategies and practices to employ, but those with military affiliation regard certain campus services as more important.
