Abstract

This paper explores anti-racist strategies by cultivating self-identity reflexivity and developing empathy for diversity. I examine how systematic oppression is constructed and emphasize that individuals need to be critical, creative, and artistic to analyze the root cause of racism in day-to-day experiences. Further, I propose a QUEER model as a framework for exploring how dominant societal ideology influences individuals' positionality formation through the lens of reflexivity and intersectionality. Finally, I share a participatory action research project that explores pre-service art teachers' perspectives, reflexivity, and experiences regarding creating and teaching intersectionality and inclusion in a Saturday school art class setting.
