Abstract

As schoolteachers, we are required to offer all students an education within a safe framework. Throughout a long career, many teachers will meet students with various traumas. This paper discusses teachers' experiences with facilitating everyday school life for this group of students. We conducted qualitative interviews with five teachers who have had students with trauma in their classes. The teachers place special emphasis on the importance of making early contact with pupils and parents after a traumatic event, in order to cooperate in finding good solutions for facilitating and adapting everyday school life. These teachers' experiences are important contributions to creating good routines for teachers and school leaders.
