The goal of this study was to explore pre-service physical education teachers’ (PSPETs’) experience by watching their teaching in 360° virtual reality videos. Participants were PSPETs from a university located in the north-east of France. They were asked to think-aloud as they watched 360° videos of their teaching using a head-mounted display and were interviewed after this experience. Data were analyzed using descriptive and axial coding to examine emerging categories and themes. The PSPETs’ experience revealed three main themes: immersion as a key feature of 360° virtual reality video, access to detail and point-of-view changes. The use of 360° VR video may be a relevant strategy for promoting PSPETs’ professional development.
