Supporting K–12 Educators With Personalized Professional Learning: Impact and Quality of a Professional Development Program

Abstract

CarolinaCrED professional learning program was developed to support K-12 educators in South Carolina. This study investigated the impact and quality of the program and identified important areas of professional learning. We used a mixed methods design and collected quantitative survey data from 163 educators and qualitative interview data from 19 educators. The results indicated that CarolinaCrED is very beneficial regarding educators’ content and pedagogical knowledge of teaching, reflecting on teaching, and following professional standards/responsibilities. Most educators reported confidence in teaching after participating in the program. They were satisfied with the program and would recommend the program to others. Teaching virtually, using technology, and classroom management were identified as areas of professional learning that educators need the most currently.
