Co-Constructing Research With Schools to Strengthen Family-School-Community Partnerships: Bringing Together Global Praxis (Poster 33)

Abstract

From Colorado to Colombia, to Scotland and Sierra Leone, there is a need for school-based resources to collectively assess family-school-community partnerships. A state government office for family-school-community partnerships in the US and an international research institution teamed up with education leaders from seven countries to co-construct rubrics that are accessible and relevant for school communities. These internationally validated rubrics reflect the Dual Capacity-Building Framework (Mapp & Bergman, 2021) and examine schools’ progress on building inclusion, trust, learning, and resources for engaging families (Epstein et al., 2018). The rubrics were piloted with 12 US schools districts, and schools in over 8 countries in Asia, Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa. This paper details the mixed-methods research behind these rubrics.
