French as a second language (FSL) teachers in Canada must meet the Ontario Ministry of Education mandate to teach in equitable and culturally-responsive ways. In this paper, we critically examined the high school FSL curriculum to identify ways in which the document resisted and reproduced colonial, racist and oppressive discourses. We use critical discourse analysis anchored within a feminist anticolonial framework (Carroll, 2018) to analyze the curriculum. Findings reveal problematic explicit and implicit discourses, as well as the erasure of certain ideas, groups and discourses that are counter to promoting equitable practices. The presentation will conclude with recommendations and calls to action.
