Sat, April 15, 11:40am to 1:10pm CDT (11:40am to 1:10pm CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

During my doctoral research, I developed a practice that I call Dancing-Reading-Writing (DRW). This arts-based research practice has guided and keeps guiding my research—a research that starts from the body. In this paper, I describe this practice, which had helped me to connect to with my body, and to establish an intimate inner dialogue, and navigate the academic journey.
In the practice of DRW there is never an ending: this practice is a place for inquiry and not for answers. This practice is not fixed; it is meant to change and be changed through and thanks to the dance. Listening to the body, the dance, and their relationship is a way of doing research with my whole being.
