Abstract

We are teacher educators from different countries collaborating to expand self-study methodology and scholarship through creative and arts-inspired techniques. We recently co-edited a journal special issue, showcasing various perspectives and experiences regarding poetic self-study. In this paper, we examine our work as editors in light of the AERA 2023 Call’s argument for supporting alternative modes of publication and welcoming a diverse range of scientific and scholarly products. To put our words into action, we solicited and created polyvocal poetry from contributors and ourselves for data generation and analysis. A combination of poetry and dialogue facilitated our virtual bricolage self-study method. We consider impetus and impact, sharing our insights into plurality, methodological and epistemological inventiveness, academic-personal intersections, and relational scaffolding.
