Assessment and Comparison of Aspects of Student Well-Being in a Pharmacy Professional Program

Fri, April 14, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

This study presents the development and results of a student measure, which examined students’ well-being in a professional pharmacy program. The Likert-items were analyzed using descriptive statistics and were used to create scales on sub-topics of well-being including learning climate, connectedness, value and respect, perception of faculty, life balance, current and future financial status. Linear regression models were analyzed with each sub-topic of well-being as the outcome variable and both professional year of the program and ethnicity included as predictors. In addition, the responses to a qualitative item asking students what suggestions they had for improving well-being were analyzed. The responses to this question were coded for themes.
