Abstract

As the Catholic teacher considers her spirituality and the manner in which she lives the gospel message, it must be one that is grounded in a contemplative way of being. It is in this way of being that is dialectically congruent when infused with the intimate recognition that teaching is a sacred vocation, that a personalist lens is a necessity, that knowledge of the social teachings of the Church is fundamental, and that the value of liberation theology and its concept of preferential option for the poor is a necessity. To that end, this paper argues what it means to live a Catholic teacher spirituality in the context of teaching for social justice.
