In this paper, we explore “culturally generating pedagogies” as they emerged during three year-long sets of intergenerational dialogues involving LGBTQ+ younger (18-26) and older (60-82) adults. We root our research methodology within ethnographic experimentation. Ethnography allows for in-depth and sustained engagement between LGBTQ+ subjects as they (and we) unpack complex legacies that have limited LGBTQ+ intergenerational contact, historically and presently. This challenging and sometimes messy work is necessary for building an intergenerational LGBTQ+ community. The educational problem that we seek to address through LGBTQ+ intergenerational dialogues is epistemic injustice. Such dialogues, we argue, contribute to both countering the legacies of epistemic injustice by making visible LGBTQ+ knowledges and developing pedagogical practices that are culturally generating.
