Abstract

In order to survive, Hawaiian must be able to accommodate a 21st century world that has been inundated with English. As such, it is not feasible (let alone possible) to utilize some idealized version of the language that is completely pure and unadulterated by foreign influence. Even if such a version had been hermetically sealed over that span of time and then suddenly made available to a community shielded from the effects of colonization, it would not accommodate our current linguistic needs.
