Abstract

Measuring postsecondary value often does not account for students’ perceptions of value nor consider geographic variations in such outcomes. Using a novel dataset, the 2020 & 2021 Strada-Gallup Education Surveys, this study examines whether geographic variations exist in the perceptions of postsecondary value. As most students tend to attend and complete their postsecondary education close to where they live, perceptions of value for one’s education may also change depending on their location and different regional factors. Findings describe patterns associated with personal dimensions of postsecondary value (e.g., whether one’s education was worth the cost, helped achieve goals, or led to more learning) and reveal rural and urban differences in outcomes.
