Thu, April 13, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, Floor: 7th Floor, Grand Ballroom Salon III

Abstract

In the domains of arts-based research, music receives little attention in enhancing arts-informed research. We explore how music could be incorporated with the memory-work approach to creating a new methodology in educational research. Music is key to provoking critical incidents in our memories. We identify critical musical attachments of several songs to the specific moments of our memories that we have shared in discussions. We tuned up songs that resonate the most to each of us as they have been incidentally attached to some meaningful moments of our lives. We analyze the interconnection between songs as a representation of music and our memories so we could understand how music has become an indispensable part of our memories.
