Abstract

For education research to be used in policy and practice, we must improve our understanding and facilitation of the ways evidence is mobilized. Therefore, this study examines how knowledge broker organizations that create improvement resources leverage language to mobilize resources to educators and policymakers. Interviews with five equity-focused broker organizations reveal how they grappled with messaging to foster engagement with their ideas and resources. They used language to convey the resources’ compatibility with the users’ values, experiences, and needs across learning stages and schemata, regions and contexts, and differing identities. Findings inform efforts to facilitate knowledge mobilization, particularly in text-rich online spaces, and, thus, push the traditional modes of sharing evidence and resources.
