Abstract

Using community cultural wealth as a framework, this qualitative study explored the role of parents in the college choice process of Hmong students. Findings from this study highlight that participants’ aspirational capital, familial capital, linguistic capital, social capital, and navigational capital emerged from their parents. This study advances a more culturally nuanced understanding of parents as cultural assets for Hmong students in the college choice process.
