Abstract

Much data is available in schools. However, school teams do not always have the skills to use data effectively. Professionalization for school leaders and teachers is thus necessary. Research has shown that data coaches and collaborative learning in the form of learning networks are one of the enabling conditions that promote data use. This study investigates the role of data coaches and learning networks using interviews with 14 scientific experts. Regarding the profile of a data coach, there is no consensus. However, all experts mentioned the importance of interpersonal and coaching skills. Several tensions related to learning networks were uncovered, which should be considered when designing learning networks.
