Thu, April 13, 2:50 to 4:20pm CDT (2:50 to 4:20pm CDT), Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, Floor: 7th Floor, Grand Ballroom Salon III

Abstract

Calls for educational research to disrupt systemic oppression, identify the need for researchers to co-construct research with diverse communities. To disrupt the status quo, researchers need to disrupt their own practices including looking beyond the dominant research paradigm of evidence-based practices (EBPs). This requires rethinking not only one’s individual practice as a researcher, but how the universities in which they work. This autoethnographic study seeks to open the black box of university-school improvement hubs by describing the experiences of early and mid-career researchers engaged in experiences in leading these efforts, grounded in our commitments to push the boundaries of research methods and to cross them as bridging-scholars and partnership advocates. We identify supportive conditions, barriers, and opportunities for hub development.
