Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic brought forth unprecedented detrimental impacts for education (World Health Organization, 2021). In Canada, the country experienced a decrease in instruction hours (Gorbet et al., 2020), concerns in providing students with resources needed to successful engage in learning (Alberta Teachers Association, 2020), and fears that prolonged remote learning would exacerbate achievement gaps (Aurini & Davies, 2021). The present study situated in Ontario, Canada, explores the challenges faced by eleven educational leaders as they navigate their schools through the pandemic. The findings of the study reveal that leaders experienced a lack of resources to aid them in their decision making as well as difficulties in managing their staff and students. However, leaders overcame those concerns through distributed leadership models.
