Sustainability in Higher Education: Students' Perceptions From Understanding Online Information Search Practices

Abstract

The study focuses on examining how young people use the internet to look for information and how they form opinions about world events. The LOIS (Late Teenagers Internet Information Search) project aims to shed light on the ways in which young people make use of their information literacy abilities when conducting online searches. For each of the online search tasks requested, regarding topics including health, green transportation, the environment and the climate change, students were expected to offer "suitable advise" Both the advice to make and the justification for the information's veracity in light of the web search were covered in the questions. The results demonstrated how each topic's recommendations and participant-submitted arguments derive from a limited number of sources.
