Charting Baroque Lines of Escape for Education Movements With Jackson Pollock

Abstract

This presentation reflects a final act in a trilogy about Baroque method and education hinged to the arts and painting. The trilogy is comprised of three types of lines drawn from Deleuze and Guattari, among other matters. We briefly trace the trilogy’s first segments. A second tracing trails that review and moves along mid-20th century Abstract Expressionism’s order and catastrophe, specifically through the art of Jackson Pollock, a great purveyor of lines. These lines lead into details on Baroque method, based in art processes and movement. Then, the methodological processes are put to work around encounters with Pollock’s art and procedures, followed by implications for education research and practice that push boundaries and create new territories to map and explore.
