Abstract

Through this study, we draw on practitioner inquiry and self-study methodology to examine how we can leverage our role as field coaches to enhance cohesion between teacher candidates’ experiences in their coursework and the roles they take on at their field placements in connection with our program’s Equity and Justice Teaching Framework. Through interrogating ourselves in connection to our field coaching roles, we were able to develop greater partnerships with our mentor teachers, more cohesion between TCs’ course work and field work, and we were able to invite more collaboration between program faculty and mentor teachers. Our findings serve as an entry point for other field coaches, teacher educators, and other teacher education preparation faculty across various institutions.
