Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the concept of "Decisional Capital" amongst novice teachers during the first three years of their career. Decisional Capital refers to the resources teachers draw on to make judgements and decisions about their classroom. We gathered data from 342 novice teachers taking part in a three year early career development program in one Southeastern state. We examined teacher agency, teacher confidence, and teacher reflective practice as underlying elements that together compose decisional capital, and used factor analysis to examine the relationships between the concepts.
