Abstract
This paper discusses an exploratory study of student generated multimodal artefacts and their role in facilitating cross-community Knowledge Building between two distinct communities situated half a world apart. Preliminary findings suggest that in cases where communities are different in almost all aspects (age, culture, geography, time, grade, subject of study), multimodality allows for nuanced idea expression, and the opportunity to connect on a more personal level.
