Validation of a Teacher Questionnaire for Screening Children With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Traits

Abstract

The Teacher Questionnaire for Screening Children with ADHD Traits is a newly developed, non-diagnostic tool for screening children with ADHD traits. We utilized widely used ADHD diagnostic tools such as SNAP-IV-26 and DSM-5 as the criterions to verify the criterion validity of this newly developed questionnaire. The questionnaire demonstrated satisfactory criterion with SNAP-IV-26. When comparing with final screening results based on DSM-5, the questionnaire showed high predictive power, negative predictive power, sensitivity and specificity. Interview data further revealed that school teachers thought highly of this questionnaire and judged it to have a high application value in the real school context, assisting teachers in recognizing the characteristics of children with ADHD traits.
