To understand the combined impact of SNS use and social achievement goals (SG) on users’ life satisfaction, the present study identified emergent social networking profiles comprising SNS activity and social achievement goals and investigated the relationships with life satisfaction of Korean university students. Latent profile analysis (LPA) generated a four-profiles model consisting of the Passive SNS-Low SG group, Active SNS-Moderate SG group, Passive SNS-Moderate SG group, and Active SNS-High SG group. Students in the Active SNS-High SG group reported the highest levels of life satisfaction while students in the Passive SNS-Low SG group reported the lowest levels of life satisfaction. No significant difference was found between the Active SNS-Moderate SG group and the Passive-Moderate SG group regarding life satisfaction.
