This study aimed to identify gender preference in students’ conception regarding caloric-balanced living. A semi-structured interview was conducted with high school students (n = 61) who were learning the concepts in physical education. Analysis revealed that students possessed a total of three thematic naïve conceptions and two thematic misconceptions. A χ2 analysis revealed gender preference was associated with the naïve conceptions, but not with the misconceptions and the scientific conceptions. This study implied a need to consider gender preference in addressing students’ naïve conceptions.
