Effects of Team Adaptability on Disregarding Shared and Updated Information Within Hierarchical Professional Teams

Abstract

In this study, we explore whether the disregard of shared information differs across hierarchical ranks, if the disregard of shared information across ranks is affected by the presence of updated information, and which role team adaptability plays in preventing the disregard of shared information. This study was carried out with Dutch professional auditors participating in a hidden profile task. We found significant differences in the disregard of shared information across ranks (F= 2,480, p = 0,006), but no significant differences between ranks when faced with updated information. We report mixed results for the effect of team adaptability with a significant negative effect on information disregard before, and a significant positive effect after the team has received updated information.
