An Environmental Scan of Institutional Support for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning as Pedagogy

Abstract

This study describes an environmental scan of support programs related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) as reflected in the websites of centers for teaching and learning associated with institutions of higher education in the United States. The scan reveals a fairly stable set of support modalities, albeit with patterns trending towards relatively low levels of impact and distribution. Our findings suggest that support for SoTL-as-pedagogy may be receding or displaced by rising standards for SoTL-as-research.
