This study captures faculty perspectives on equity and social justice learning experiences and their theories of action for the development of aspiring leaders’ capacity to practice equity and social justice leadership. Data was collected via semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal instructors receiving already developed courses often “tweak” the learning experiences to meet the intended course outcomes while embedding approaches to equity and social justice teaching and learning that align with their own personal commitments. The findings show how faculty mindsets influence course design, preparation, and delivery, and reveal effective race pedagogies for courses addressing complex issues such as race, racism, privilege, oppression, and antiracism.
