Unpacking the Belongingness and Meaning-Making of Servingness of Brazilian Students at a Hispanic-Serving Institution

Fri, April 14, 2:50 to 4:20pm CDT (2:50 to 4:20pm CDT), Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Floor: Lobby - Level 3, Columbus AB

Abstract

Published scholarship on Brazilian students centers around their K-12 educational experiences, their experiences in the medical fields, their international status, or Brazilian higher education in Brazil. Given there is limited published research on the experiences of Brazilian students at HSIs, it is imperative to expand the literature on sense of belonging regarding Brazilian students’ experiences within higher education. The purpose of this stay is to contribute to how Brazilian college students make meaning of servingness and create a sense of belonging at an HSI.
