The purpose of this research was to examine the impact of a video- based action research process on pre-service teachers’ development of practice by comparing two groups of pre-service teachers completing their final year of an undergraduate teacher education program. Video analysis revealed that pre-service teachers in the pilot group significantly improved in their practice while the same results were not found with the control group. Further analysis found that engagement in action research provided a foundation for pre-service teachers to connect theory to practice in meaningful ways. Furthermore, this research found engagement in the action research process led to overall greater development in preservice teachers in the pilot group.
