Fri, April 14, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Hyatt Regency Chicago, Floor: East Tower - Exhibit Level, Riverside West Exhibition Hall

Abstract

HighScope developed and validated Classroom Coach to evaluate the quality of preschool classrooms over six years conducting three studies. This study presents the implementation study carried out in 2018-19 school year. The measurement model used was a partial credit Rasch model; we also estimated reliability and interrater reliability. The results show a good fit of the model with estimations of reliability and interrater reliability above the standard cutoff points. Classroom Coach has three dimensions: 1. Learning Environment; 2. Teaching and Learning Routines and Adult-Child Interactions; 3. Curriculum, Planning, Assessment, and Family Engagement. This new classroom quality assessment could be used by researchers and practitioners regardless of the preschool curriculum used in classrooms.
