Abstract

Parental advocacy for students with disabilities has a long-standing history within US public education. During COVID-19, parents, especially parents of students with disabilities, needed to engage in and support their children’s education more than ever. Considering the unique context of COVID-19 and the long-standing history of parent advocacy in special education, two research questions guided our study: 1) What was the purpose of mothers’ advocacy? 2) How did mothers advocate for their children with disabilities in education during the pandemic?
